Abstract: An improved validity index is proposed in this paper,which is based on previous indices.This improved index,defined by the ratio of separation measure and compactness measure,not only contains the information of data membership degree and data structure,but also shows the character of data distribution.Experiments results prove that the improved index can make a correct partition of datasets.Compared with other indexes,it is relatively more effective.
