Abstract:
This paper proposed a hybrid microprocessor architecture that combines VLIW and Superscalar executing mode.By flexibly deploying control logic of the dispatch stage in the original single VLIW pipeline and implementing two mode-switching instructions,this architecture can be switched between the two executing mode by programmer or compiler.This paper describes the design and implementation of this architecture on Lily 2 ISA.The evaluations based on an open64 compiler toolchain show that this architecture performs well in both signal processing applications and general calculating applications.
