Abstract:
This paper focuses on a detailed analys is and investigation of the impact of selected routing algorithms on the self-similarity of multimedia traffic in multi-hop mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs). We use Variance-Time plot and R/S plot to analyze the time series of multimedia traffic generated using NS2, based on typical routing algorithms. Our analyses demonstrate the largest degree of self-similar of the traffic based on a table-driven routing algorithm such as DSDV, however, the least self-similar degree incluster-based routing protocols such as CBR, reflecting the suitability for real-time multimedia streaming. We believe that this conclusion could contribute to elaborate efficient routing protocols supporting QoS in dynamic wireless multimedia network environment.
