Improved EZW Image Encoding Algorithm Based on HVS

  • 摘要: 在经典EZW (embedded zero-tree wavelet) 算法的基础上, 根据人眼对图像边缘和平滑区信息的失真要比纹理区失真更敏感这一视觉特性, 对小波变换后的系数分类编码, 提出了一种新的有效的图像压缩编码算法.实验结果表明由于边缘和极平滑区小波系数分配了更多的比特数, 该算法所得的重构图像边缘更清晰, 具有更好的视觉效果.

     

    Abstract: A new and effective improved encoded algorithm based on zero-tree wavelet is proposed, which codes the wavelet coefficients with sorting method according to the Human Visual System (HVS) that we human pay more attention to the edge and flat region of one image than to the texture region.Simulation results show that the algorithm we proposed performs better than that of EZW in image visual quality as the reconstruction image of the improved method has more clear edge because more bits are used to code the coefficients of the edge and flat region.
