Abstract: After analyzing the methods of identifying important events from texts and text classification, we present a method of text classification based on key events.Two key technologies are mainly introduced: representing text using key events and getting text classification templates.We apply two methods to classify texts in Chinese Event Corpus (CEC) .The average accuracy achieves 80% using the method proposed, and the average accuracy is 72% by the traditional method taking words as text features.
