Differentiating Prefetching for Irregular Data References

Anew differentiating prefetching technique for irregular data is presented based on memory access stream.Differentiating prefetching mechanism records the distance between two successive memory accesses of the same instruction when modeling the memory access stream of hot loops,and adjusts prefetch operations accordingly.Experimental results show that differentiating prefetching mechanism can improve cache hit rate and system performance comparing with conventional data prefetching techniques.
