Recognition of Handwritten Uyghur Character Based on Di rectional Element Feature

In recognition of hand-written Uyghur character,one of important steps is feature extraction.This paper gives an algorithm of directional element feature extraction for hand-written Uyghur character,which uses KNN recognition as classifier. The experimental result shows, the algorithm is simple, effective with remarkable recognition rate.
