Design and Implementation of an IF-Playback Based Tracking Channel

  • An Intermediate Frequency (IF) Playback based tracking channel design is presented in this paper. Two single-port RAMs are used for IF ping-pong processing.Meanwhile, the scan logic technique from DFT (Design For Test) is used for storing register information of tracking channels to local SRAM.The continuous tracking of satellite signals is achieved through the time division multiplex (TDM) of the tracking channels. The logic resources of tracking channels are reduced significantly at the expense of a small increase of SRAM and the working frequency of the tracking channel. The tracking channel design is implemented and verified on an ARM+FPGA hardware platform, and synthesized using 65 nm CMOS cell library. The scale of the circuit is about 230 000 logic gates, which is reduced about 44% compared to traditional tracking channel designs.
