An Accurate and Flexible Calibration Method for Projector-Camera

  • In this paper, a flexible method with high accuracy is proposed to calibrate the projector-camera system. For this issue, the major challenge is how to acquire accurate coordinates’ correspondences. In this approach, in order to avoid the interference between the projected pattern and the pattern on the calibration board, an adaptive two step pattern generation and projection method is proposed to establish the coordinates’ correspondences. Moreover, the flexibility of the method is also kept. Only the common checkerboard calibration board is used without any additional high precision devices. The experiment results show that the maximum value of reprojection error for projector is less than 0.554 2 pixels, and the RMS of the reprojection error is 0.181 0 pixels.
