Implementation and Optimization of Vector Quantization Algorithms Based on Visual C++6.0

Vector Quantization(VQ)is an efficient lossy compression technology.However it is difficult for VQ to realize real-time encoding.The aim of this paper is to increase the efficiency of VQ coding algorithm on PC.By implementing several well-known methods of VQ algorithm based on Inequality Deletion Criterion and analyzing the results of their performances based on Intel CPU,we propose some effective optimization methods using MMX instructions.
