The Motion Compensation Optimization of H.264/AVC Decoder Based on DSP Hardware Platform

  • According to the features like excessive memory accesses and complex computation in motion compression module of H.264/AVC decoder, a series of optimization strategies for reference data transfer and sub pixel interpolation have been adopted.A new parallel dada preloading strategy and optimized interpolation algorithm are proposed in this paper.The decoding speed is greatly improved using these strategies without losing any image quality.Experimental results based on TI DM642 DSP platform show that the computing speed of the optimized module is 19 times than the original one.
