A Bandgap Voltage Reference Implementing Reliable Startup by Using Comparator

  • This paper presents a bandgap voltage references (BGRs) with a comparator configuration in startup circuit, solving potential issue of failure startup due to the using of bipolar transistors in the BGRs. This BGR guarantees the core circuit to reach ideal work point by using the comparator in the startup circuit to adjust correctly startup and turnoff point and is turned off after the startup of core circuit, avoiding the problems existing in other startup circuits such as perturbation or sorting to seldom available POR signal in some system. The BGR can work with the supply voltage range of 1.2V-3. 6V and the temperature range of -40°-110°, providing the output voltage of 0. 9V. What's more, the output voltage varies within 5 % with given supply voltage and temperature range.
