The Performance Evaluation of Information Dissemination Protocol in WSNs Based on LT Fountain Codes

  • In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it's difficult to design a reliable network protocol. Adopting the erasure codes in the protocol, the sender will send some encoded data. If the receiver receives enough encoded packet, then it can restore the original data packets. In this paper, an information dissemination protocol based on LT fountain codes is proposed and implemented in TinyOS platform. We make a performance evaluation in the TOSSIM. The simulation results show that the proposed information dissemination protocol based on LT fountain codes can improve the packet delivery ratio while reducing the number of packets to transmit.
