Research of Color Image Rendering with NPR Style Based on Edge Fusion

As to the problem of the traditional cartoon painting suffered from not only the place and device, but also the long develop period and low efficiency, the method of color image rendering with cartoon style based on edge fusion was proposed.Taking account of the special properties of cartoon painting, the two factors which must be regarded were edge and color.Firstly, the RGB image should be converted to Lab image and the L channel was processed by edge filter.Then the L channel was quantified which can be combined to whole RGB image.Finally, the RGB image and edge image can be integrated to the cartoon painting.The experimental results demonstrated that this method has the superiority of overcoming the color skip and stripe compared with the method of scanning line.
