A Fault-tolerant Mechanism Based on Dual-buffer and XYX Routing for NoC

  • This paper proposes a fault-tolerant mechanism based on dual-buffer and XYX routing. The mechanism reduces the delay by dual buffer and optimizes the power by XYX routing strategy, which can achieve better performance in the condition of high reliability. System C is used to program the NoC router and build the 4×4 2D mesh NoC platform for verifying the validity of the fault-tolerant mechanism. The results show that the data transmission delay and power consumption overhead of this mechanism were reduced by approximately 50% and 20% compared to end-to-end random routing algorithm when the failure rate is less than 2%.
