Invalid Block Management for High Capacity Image Recorder Based on NandFlash

  • 摘要: 针对NAND型闪存大容量图像存储器存在无效块的问题, 提出了一种无效块快速检测与管理算法.在分析闪存写入无效块和非写入无效块的基础上, 采用基于CAM的无效块信息分类匹配检测机制.闪存在擦除、写入和读取操作过程中采用CAM和SRAM匹配检测无效块, 并存储新增长无效块.另外高速图像写入闪存过程中, 提出了基于SRAM数据备份的方法, 防止图像数据存储错误.通过搭建基于FPGA的闪存图像存储器硬件平台, 实验证明该算法能够在5个系统时钟周期内匹配无效块, 能够在3个系统时钟周期内存储新增无效块, 能够匹配连续无效块信息, 并实现数据备份.

     

    Abstract: Considering that high capacity image recorder based on existing invalid block, the method of quickly detection and management invalid block in NandFlash is presented.Based on analysis of written invalid block and non written invalid block, the classified invalid block matching and detection mechanism based on CAM is proposed.On erasing, writing and reading operation of the flash, CAM an SRAM is used to detect and match the invalid block of NandFlash and storage new increased invalid block.When writing high speed image data to the flash, the written data stored into the NandFlash is simultaneously back-up by the external SRAM to prevent image data storage error.The experiment which is based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) indicates the algorithm can identify the invalid blocks in 5 system clock period and storage new increased invalid blocks in 3 system clock periods.The method can quickly identify the consecutive invalid blocks and back-up the written image data.
