Congestion and Hotspot Aware Router Design for Low Latency Network-on-Chip

  • 摘要: 为了改善片上网络路由器的通信延时, 提高路由器的可靠性, 通过改良路由器架构、优化路由器关键路径, 结合设计的基于拥塞和热点感知路由算法, 提出了一种低延时片上网络路由器设计方法.相同配置下的综合结果表明本文设计的路由器与CONNECT路由器相比具有工作速度快、传输延时低的优点; Hotspot负载模型下的测试结果显示该路由算法明显优于传统的超前XY路由算法.

     

    Abstract: To decrease the communication latency and improve the reliability of the routers in the Network-on-Chip, a low latency router based on congestion- and hotspot-aware routing algorithm is proposed by building a novel virtual channel router architecture and optimizing its critical path. The experimental results show that the proposed router can achieve faster operating frequency and lower transmission latency when compared with CONNECT router. Under Hotspot traffic, our routing algorithm is obviously superior to the look-ahead XY routing.
